Legacy
Hosts First Earth Day at the Capitol
Students
from Fairhope and Anniston took part in celebrating
Earth Month as they helped to beautify the capitol grounds.
The students from Fairhope High School planted oakleaf
hydrangeas, azaleas, and mountain laurel on the north
side of the capitol complex, while the students from
Wellborn Elementary School in Anniston helped put up
bluebird houses
and installed signage identifying existing plants.
This was just one of several events that
Legacy sponsored on April 29th in celebration of Earth
Month.
During a reception later that evening
at the capitol, Governor Bob Riley and First Lady Patsy
Riley presented a commendation to Legacy recognizing
the organization's work and commitment to preserving
Alabama's environment.
